Bringing Nudist Youth and Podcast Interview with Felicity

Getting More Naturist Youth Involved in Nudism:
Nudist Youth – Yesterday the latest podcast of the Naturist Living Show came out entitled “Attracting Youth.” If you have never heard of the show, it is a monthly podcast by Stephane Deschenes, owner of Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park in Ontario, Canada. I don’t understand how many of you listen to podcasts, but this Internet radio show music genre seems to have grown in popularity in the last few years. Nonetheless, in the world of nudism, Stephane is ahead of the game because he’s got the only naturist podcast in the world right now and a large following to boot.
Stephane asked to interview me for this month’s show about young naturists, who we are and what we’re doing. So what you hear in the show is Stephane first sharing his ideas on how naturist clubs, groups, etc. can draw in more naturist youth. Then there is an interview with me, followed by an interview with Jess of the website Naked Vegan Cooking. If you want some tips or advice on bringing youth to nudism, listen to this podcast. Stephane knows what he is doing. Bare Oaks is known for its young visitors, members and staff, and seemingly they had hundreds of visitors under age 35 this past summer. It’s also one of the few clubs in North America that offers a discount rate to young adults (age 25 and under).
Stephane makes several great points, and I just need to quote him on one that I think gets overlooked. He states that a vital part of attracting young people is having a “powerful naturist doctrine.” He says:
“I think you have to be very idealistic, I believe you’ve got to be an ethical naturistbecause when you are young is when you are at your most idealistic. That is when you’re most involved in causes. That’s when a message of health and social justice and having a better world in general with regard to body acceptance and getting along together. That message rings more accurate when you are younger”
Nudist Youth
I think about my 24-year old self and how I need to save the planet. So, yeah. This is totally authentic. And look at how many young people rally around the World Naked Bike Ride global, for instance. Give them a great reason or cause to get naked, and make way for naked youth on bikes!
As FKK, we’ve got this part covered. In fact it goes back to why we started FKK to begin with, because naturism to us is unquestionably about much more than simply becoming naked. At its heart, we consider the naturist movement should be about approval, as Stephane quotes us on. It’s what makes us body favorable and sex-positive! We’ve got a set of ideals and causes we care about and fight for. While I think there are people who just need to get naked (or see nude people possibly), I definitely agree with Stephane on this point, that it is an important feature to consider when attempting to bring youth to the naturist movement.
In the section with Jess, I believe it’s worth noting that his blog is run by several young adults who are not just about cooking nude, but also work to boost body positivity, well-being and comprehension of issues they care about. It’s also interesting to notice that although Jess engages in social nudity, he wouldn’t label himself a fkk or naturist. He hasn’t seen a nudist club, nor does he think such places are applicable to http://shockintown.com/post/nudists-conserve-energy/ of social nudity. He mentions that there are many young people who try social nudism without thinking about it in fkk terms. We observe this trend ourselves just in the amounts of those who have never seen any fkk club before attending a FKK gathering.
Things to ponder!

What do my readers think? Is having a dominant, defined naturist philosophy an important part of engaging young people in naturism? Does a deficiency of one lead to a lack of interest in visiting naturist clubs, resorts or attending fkk group events?
